Grade 5 Science Transition

Grade 5 students spent an exciting morning at the Southbank Westminster campus working in the chemistry labs.

Teacher Alex Gordon explained: "This was in connection to our current Unit of Inquiry which falls under the transdisciplinary theme How the World Works. We are exploring the central idea: In a chemical reaction, new substances are formed."

Chemistry teachers at Westminster introduced the students to some of the apparatus and methods of chemistry and demonstrated some interesting
examples of reversible and irreversible reactions. The activity also forms part of the extensive "transition programme" - preparing Grade 5 students from Southbank Kensington and Hampstead for their future move to Southbank Westminster next year.
