Graduation 2009

30 May 2009

This year the Southbank community said farewell to the highest number of Grade 12s at the school's annual Graduation ceremony.

54 students representing 29 nationalities gathered at Church House in Dean's Yard, Westminster, to receive their Diplomas in front of family, friends and Southbank staff.

The event included an inspiring address by Southbank's founder Milton Toubkin. Student Matthew Bernstein gave the Valedictorian Address and President of the Student Council, Matthew Durrell also spoke.

As is customary on this occasion, the ECIS Award for International Understanding was also presented. This year's recipient was Tsukiko Oyama (who has been at Southbank since she was 4 years old), in recognition of her being: "a good representative of her country with a positive attitude toward the life and culture of others, able to converse in at least two languages, a contributing force in the life of the school, with the ability to bring differing people together into a sense of community, thus furthering the cause of international understanding".
