Students Go For Green!
02 June 2009Southbank Hampstead took part in special steel recycling workshops last month, hosted by Corus' education unit, SCRiB.
SCRiB's Nicola Bennett was invited to the primary school by teacher, Vicki Hird, to assist the students in understanding more about waste management and their environment.
Nicola conducted special steel recycling workshops and taught the students how the Llanelli-based steel tinplate company leads the way in sustainability. The workshops had particular relevance for the 7 and 8 year old pupils as a recycling project is part of the science and social science curriculum this year.
Nicola comments: "I was absolutely delighted to be invited to Southbank to meet the next generation of environmentalists. Sustainability and the environment play an ever more important role in day to day life and will play an even bigger role in generations to come. We believe that educating students is the key to securing a sustainable future and it was fantastic to hear the views of the world's future voices."
Vicki Hird added: "SCRIB is a hugely influential body that is leading the way in promoting sustainability and recycling in schools and colleges through its education resource. The workshops were great."
