Where We Are In Place And Time

18 November 2009

Grade 5 Hampstead students recently participated in an exciting workshop with the Thames Explorer Trust. This was linked to their unit of inquiry under the transdisciplinary theme "Where we are in Place and Time".

Students spent the morning observing and analyzing artefacts at the Museum of London. In the afternoon, they went to the foreshore at the River Thames to collect their own artefacts.

They found an impressive range of items ranging from pottery, clay pipes, leather shoes and animal bones. They then applied their knowledge and understanding of different time periods in London's past to classify and sort the objects. Some of the artefacts were brought back to school and will be on display in a class "Artefact Museum".
