How will I know how my child is doing?
Homework is regularly set by teachers. The amount set will depend on the subject and the Grade level.
The purpose of homework is to:
• Help students develop good study habits
• Practice work covered in class
• Extend work covered in class
• Prepare for the next class.
Even if a homework task is not set, students should spend their homework time going through the day's lessons, reading, or preparing themselves for the next day.
Full written reports are issued twice a year for students in Grades 6-10 and sent home by post. Interim grades are also sent home twice a year.
We will report on your child's progress in the following ways:• interim grades (sent to parents in October and April). These grades are an indication of the
progress made in the course up to this point but are not officially recorded on School
transcripts.
• conferences between parents, teachers and students (October and April)
• semester reports giving detailed information about student achievement against each of
the subject criteria as well as a summative grade on the 1 to 7 scale. An example
of a report can be found on page 48 (sent to parents in January and June)
• occasional incidental reports about progress, achievements or particular
concerns (anytime).
