Dramatic Southbank
02 April 2009Southbank is known for its fantastic drama productions and the latest Middle School production of ‘1001 Nights' was no exception.
It was a wonderful show performed by students in Grades 7 and 8 and directed by Ms Lewthwaite and a real labour of love which required huge amounts of commitment, time, work and energy.
After the holidays it will be the turn of Grade 6 to enjoy after-school drama club. Meanwhile, the high school drama club have started rehearsals for their production of ‘Alice in Wonderland' which will be performed in May.
Last term was the time of year for the Grade 12 Theatre Arts students to produce their Independent Projects. These are practical projects created by the students and this year six students directed theatre pieces, one student wrote an original playscript, one delivered a theatre workshop, one produced a stand-up comedy show and two developed roles within one of the directed pieces. The students worked with extreme dedication, often in a role they had not previously experienced, to ensure that their projects were successful and they all gained enormously from their experiences. We wish them all the best for their final IB grades!
