Grade 2 Visit National Maritime Museum
28 January 2009On January 22 Grade 2 Hampstead students went to the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich to learn more about exploration in the Tudor times.
The group took part in a workshop led by a man dressed as a Tudor. He spoke about
the many treasures, such as silk, spices and silver that the Europeans brought over from far away lands as a result of their exploration.
"We also spent some time at the Observatory and looked at some ancient forms of time telling," explained teacher Candice Wilson. "We waited patiently to see the large red Time Ball on top of Flamsteed House rise and fall to help ships on the Thames and Londoners know the time. There was so much to see, it would make a great family trip at a later date to see things in more detail. Thanks also to the parents who came to help us - we had a very interesting day!"
