IB Diploma Results 2009

10 July 2009

Southbank's class of 2009 have produced a fantastic set of IB Diploma Programme results, with an average score of 34 points. These results put us above the world average points score and world average pass rate of approximately 82%. This year's results are also above our average score of 32 points over the past 20 years.

Six of our students scored 40 points or higher and two students achieved 43 points. 20 students gained full marks for their extended essay and Theory of Knowledge. 14 students were awarded Bi-lingual Diplomas.

26 different nationalities were represented in our class of 54 graduates this year. Our top six scorers represented the following countries: Japan, UK, Russia, Italy and Brazil.

3 graduates had been with us since Kindergarten or earlier including one of our top scorers. 17 of our students joined Southbank during middle school. The average tenure at Southbank was 4.3 years.

We are extremely proud of our pass record. Assessing our applicants' academic performance and potential without using entrance exams has yielded IB scores that challenge those of the UK's top independent/Grammar schools. In 2008, Southbank was one of the top three schools in the UK: in The Times 2008 UK IB Schools League Table, we are ranked 3rd. We are also ranked 3rd in The Independent's UK Independent Schools League Table. (The 2009 League Tables are yet to be published).
