Making A Difference In Haiti
10 February 2010Student-initiated action, one of the goals of our curriculum, was in evidence throughout Southbank Kensington in the last week.
Action within the PYP takes many forms. It can be one child helping another in class, or a child choosing to find out more or share their learning as their result of what they have learned during a Unit of Inquiry. What we saw this week were several examples of students who wanted to do what they could to help the people of Haiti.
The Student Council hosted a Quake Sale, raising £270 for Haiti, and will once again be asking for everyone's support
on Friday when we will be having Crazy Dress Up Day. Evan O'Sullivan and Romy Hewson have also been moved by the plight of the people in Haiti and have come up their own ideas of how they can make a difference. Evan has also discovered the baking bug, and is hosting a bake sale for Grade 5 and teachers. Romy is planning a sponsored run.
