Our Teachers Can Teach Other Teachers Too!

17 April 2008

The International Baccalaureate Programmes require a high level of expertise among teachers. The IB Organisation provides teacher training for all levels of the three programmes.

Southbank is proud to have qualified IB Primary Years Programme trainers at the two Primary campuses: PYP Co-Ordinator Charlotte Gregson at Hampstead and Principal Judith Kingsbury and Deputy Principal Sean Walker at Kensington. As of early May two more will be qualified: Hampstead Assistant Principal Stuart Bain, and Lower Primary teacher Leanne Pike at Kensington. Both will attend the five-day course at Modena in Italy from 25 April.

There are numerous advantages for our programme as these trainers are equipped to train our own staff as well as to travel to other locations to meet and train teachers from other schools. The IB PYP thrives on the ‘cross pollination' that occurs when trainers and teachers mix among various international schools. Best practice can be shared far and wide.
