Police Constable visits Grade 2
01 October 2008Grade 2 have been inquiring into a Sense of Community as part of their current unit of inquiry.
The Southbank Kensington students began by exploring the systems in class and school that help develop a sense of community.
They then walked around the local area of Notting Hill to see which systems exist there. One system that the children observed was the law and so PC Jon Burchell was invited to talk to Grade 2.
"The children were very excited and had prepared many questions for him. This was a wonderful opportunity to understand the role of the police in our community and how police officers help keep us all safe. It was also a great way for children to rethink their ideas of police from comics and movies and appreciate the realities they face in their day to day work. Thank you PC Burchell for visiting and connecting so well to our unit," said teachers Seema Khanna and Sean Walker.
