Reading Week

16 November 2011

Southbank Hampstead Read-a-thon was a great success. The school raised over £500 for the Booktrust charity.

Last week our devoted librarian asked Grade 1 students to reflect on the reading week. Here is what they said:

"I liked reading week because it is fun reading. I read chapter books every night and it is fun." ~ Aviva

"I learned that we can do buddy reading." ~ Leah

"I really liked the Read-a-thon because I read so much, I couldn't even have time to know how much I read. I really liked the book that I bought at the book fair." ~ Whitman

"I like to read books because know lots of words. Sometimes I read books before I go to sleep. I read an Icelandic book to my class during reading week. I started reading chapter books when I was five." ~ Asa

"I liked reading week because I like reading. I liked Ian Beck; he wrote a lot of stories." ~ Lucas

"I learned during reading week that we have to choose books that are the right fit for us, not too hard or too easy." ~ Josef

"I liked reading with my buddies during reading week." ~ Oliver

"I like reading books during reading week because the books can give me a lot of information about things." ~ Robert
