Scientists Visit Grade 2

04 February 2009

Hampstead Grade 2 welcomed two visitors to talk about various aspects of scientific research and how new knowledge can cause change.

As part of their Exploration unit, they learnt about research into how cells signal to each other and how this can be controlled to stop cells growing too big.

"We also learnt about different types of radiation, and how this can be used in hospitals to treat cancer and to x-ray parts of our bodies. We enjoyed learning about how these discoveries can have such an impact and help so many people," explained Grade 2 teacher Vicki Hird.

The students are now looking forward to carrying out our own scientific research at the Natural History Museum.
