Southbank International School celebrates Saint Lucia’s Day

17 December 2007

Southbank International School's Kensington campus was true to its international approach this week as parents and pupils celebrated Saint Lucia's Day.

The feast day of Lucia is observed on December 13 in Scandinavian countries and marks the beginning of the Christmas season.

Scandinavian parents and pupils volunteered to talk to the school community about the traditional celebration. A Grade 3 pupil, Isla, acted the part of Lucia, wearing a white dress, red belt and crown of candles. She walked ahead of a procession of other children holding candles and singing traditional songs.

Southbank International School is proud of its truly international approach, reflected in a student body of over 60 nationalities.
