Southbank Releases First Ever CD

12 May 2008

40 students from Southbank Westminster recently spent a day in a top London recording studio.

Their hard work at Dean Street Studios resulted in the production of Southbank's first-ever CD. The album includes musical treats featuring vocalists in choirs as well as solo tracks, with some original compositions.

The project was the brainchild of Head of Voice, Helena Dix, who selected the participants through auditions. Nick Pope provided piano accompaniment for many of the performances and Stephen Rudall supported the project throughout.

The CD is being sold to the Southbank community and proceeds will go towards purchasing new equipment for the Music Department. A launch party was held at Portland Place on May 8 when family and friends were invited to a live performance and airing of the CD.
