Southbank's 2009 Graduate Placements
23 October 2009A view from Katherine Fox, Southbank’s UCAS Counsellor:
“You may have read how well over 45,000 students this year ended up without a place at university. I am glad to be able to report that there were no Southbank students amongst that number.
“All students who received the full IB Diploma and had applied to universities in the UK, are now hard at work, having overcome the exhaustion of fresher’s week and are, I’m sure, settled and enjoying themselves.
“Students who come back to see us, often remark on how well the IB prepares them for the first year of university and I am hoping that this year’s students are feeling the same.
“A vast majority of the 2009 graduates were able to accept offers at their first choice of university which include King’s College London, University College London, Imperial College, Oxford University, Manchester University, Royal Holloway, City University, Goldsmiths University of London, Queen Mary’s London, Southampton University, Lancaster University, Westminster University and SOAS, London. A handful of students whose grades didn’t quite hit the target were able to accept their insurance offers or find a place through the clearing system. So congratulations to all of them!
“This year’s Grade 12 students are now fully engaged in making their applications. 50 of them are signed up to apply to the UK and some will be applying to the 'States and other universities throughout the world as well. Seven students are applying for Oxford, Cambridge and Medicine. Our students and teachers are working very hard and they will be in with an excellent chance of some good offers. I wish them the best of luck; they deserve success.”
