Student Newspaper Launches
23 October 2008Southbank Westminster's first ever student-run newspaper launched today.
The Coffee Stain, named affectionately after the Southbank logo, and also as a nod to the inherent "coffee culture" in the school, has been created by a group of students from Grades 6-12.
The keen editorial team meets after school to discuss ideas and design and layout the publication, under the guidance of Dean of Students (Grades 11 & 12), Ms Kaandorp.
"The newspaper will feature articles of interest to the students - things about Southbank and things from the local community too," explained Editor-in-Chief Kyle Crossett. "We're really excited about being involved in this project and we hope that everyone enjoys reading it."
The newspaper is the latest addition to the range of after-school activities on offer at Westminster, and is also another vital communications channel between the school and home.
The newspaper team is keen to experience the process of securing sponsorship as a further exercise in understanding the world of publishing. Please contact the school is you are able to help.
