Timely Trip

10 February 2010

Grade 2 Southbank Hampstead students went to the Greenwich Observatory as part of their unit of inquiry "Where We Are in Place And Time".

At the planetarium they watched a presentation about our neighbours in our solar system. The students learnt many new and interesting facts about the sun, planets and moons in our solar system. Students reflected that they found out that the Earth could fit inside the Sun over 1 million times and they learnt that there are many more galaxies then just our own. Many students expressed an interest in one day becoming a space explorer and hoped to find new planets and galaxies.

On this trip the students also saw the world-famous Greenwich Meridian Line, which represents the Prime Meridian of the World - Longitude 0º.
