Tree of Commitment

03 April 2009

There is a "Tree of Commitment" growing in the Southbank Hampstead campus.

The Southbank Tree of Commitment is a yearlong artistic representation of the collective power of individual actions created by the PTA Charities Sub-committee. Each member of the Southbank community - students, parents, teachers, and administration - makes a promise, written on paper leaf, to do something to make the world a better place. In the Autumn the tree had golden leaves and now Spring is here, the leaves have turned green, bearing fruit as promises are kept and honoured.

Teachers partner with parents in encouraging students to clarify what they care about and want to do, and making sure that they follow through on their commitment.

This is a wonderful and powerful visual illustration of the Southbank ethos.
