Water As A Resource

05 May 2009

As part of their Unit of Inquiry, investigating water as a resource, Grade 4 from Southbank Kensington visited the River Thames to find out about the river's history, how it is used and its general cleanliness.

"We made some fascinating discoveries," explained teacher Jon Coward. "Investigations looking at animal life and pH levels showed us that the river is cleaner than we thought, which is just as well, seeing most of our drinking water comes from the river! We enjoyed exploring the foreshore, and found flounder, shrimp and leeches. This experience helped us to learn that we need to take care of our water resources, now and in the future."
