Young Citizens

This term, Grade 3 Kensington students have been thinking about Citizenship.

The students explored decision-making in society and their rights and responsibilities as citizens. They began by identifying how decisions are made within the classroom and they also discussed their individual roles in the decision-making process. Following this the children inquired into the levels of different governments.

Southbank's music teacher recently became a UK citizen and so she shared her experience with the class. The students also used Skype to link with one of their classmate's relatives who wasborn in Cuba but now lives in the United States. The children asked questions which allowed them to explore the concept of democracy.
