Southbank Kensington is a campus with 200 students from 32 countries, aged 3 to 11. Our unique Southbank ethos and International Baccalaureate curriculum are designed to provide our students with an exceptional educational experience of the highest quality in order to prepare them for an increasingly global world. Focussing on the whole child, we aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, caring young people.
The School is housed in Victorian villas right in the heart of Notting Hill. This cosmopolitan, creative and vibrant area of London has an energy which is echoed in the atmosphere of Southbank Kensington. Learning is an active and dynamic process in our School, where the students develop the skills and knowledge to inquire into the world around them. Teachers encourage the students to challenge ideas, solve problems and creatively apply their knowledge and skills. Valuing and nurturing our students' ideas and opinions helps our students become self-motivated, confident and enthusiastic learners. London is seen as extension of the classroom and we take full advantage of the wonderful learning opportunities offered by the numerous museums and galleries of London.
An excellent team of dedicated and committed staff helps to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the School, where the children's individuality is fostered and parents are considered partners in education.
As part of our full academic programme, all students from Kindergarten learn to play either the violin or the cello through the Suzuki method. In addition to class lessons, the students attend special subject lessons in Spanish, art, music, information technology and physical education. Sporting activities are held both on site and at local sports centres. We believe that an educated child is also a well balanced individual and our extensive after school activities programme helps us to achieve this.
The families who choose Southbank believe in our philosophy and approach. They value the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, which enables children to successfully balance work and play. Parents' confidence in the School means that many select Westminster as the natural choice when considering their children's secondary education.
