On Saturday 24 May there was a fitting end to the Southbank careers of 47 Grade 12 graduates who gathered, with parents, staff and other associates of the school, in the suitably grand setting of the Assembly Hall in Church House Westminster, to celebrate their graduation and receive their High School Diplomas. We were privileged to have as our guest Professor Anthony Grayling, the distinguished philosopher and academic, who gave a highly thought provoking and entertaining address. The occasion balanced an appropriately formal ceremony with spontaneous expressions of thanks and celebration from those graduating. After the consumption of drinks and a very large cake in the adjacent Hoare Memorial Hall immediately after the ceremony, graduates, parents and staff prepared for the evening’s traditional Prom at the Landmark Hotel where the grand setting, dinner and dancing reflected the significance of the occasion. Our thanks to all the staff and students who helped prepare the event, but particularly to the 47 graduates who have been a credit to the school, and who we hope and expect have been prepared to establish very successful careers as well as fulfilling lives.
