On a lovely early summer’s day over six thousand people, most dressed in lurid turquoise t-shirts, gathered in the south west corner of Battersea Park to start the five kilometre run to raise funds for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. Thanks to the recruitment drive of the tri-campus PTA, there was a significant turn out from Southbank students, staff and parents who gave up their Sunday morning leisure to take part, many having raised a considerable amount of money through sponsorship. Most ran the full distance; the Executive Principal’s excuse that he could not because he had forgotten his running shorts was greeted with little sympathy! Thanks to all those families and individuals who came. Southbankers’ commitment to help those less fortunate than themselves lives on.
