Grade 12 graduates’ rite of passage: the Graduation ceremony and Prom
Graduation is always one of those days in the school calendar to look forward to, and then warmly to remember. No more so than this year when we celebrated the graduation of the largest ever Grade 12 cohort at Southbank.
61 students, their relatives, staff and other guests, all gathered in the magnificent Assembly Hall in Church House, Westminster, to hear an address by the Principal, Dr Greenhalgh, and another from our honoured guest, the distinguished writer Dr Peter Conrad.
After the traditional ceremony, all gathered for lunchtime refreshments before preparing for that evening’s Prom which again took place in the sumptuous Landmark Hotel. An excellent dinner was followed by speeches and dancing which may have finished just in time for most of the graduates to catch the same plane to a Greek island for a well earned holiday!
Thank you to all who prepared or managed, or were guests or hosts at, this magnificent occasion; but particularly to the Class of 2015 whose members will long be remembered as much for their human qualities as the contributions they made to enrich the academic and wider life of the school.
