Westminster campus performs the musical Grease
Southbank’s Westminster campus was proud to present the hit 1971 musical Grease, recently held at the Bhavan Centre for three wonderful shows.
Our first full scale musical in recent years featured a cast of 33 students, from Grade 6 right through to our recent graduates in Grade 12. Students also took ownership of the ‘behind the scenes’ parts of the production, managing the stage crew, ushering and backstage duties.
With auditions being held in September 2014, vocal training starting in October and rehearsals running from January 2015, our young team of players was dedicated, inspired and passionate. We were lucky to have such talent and drive to work with, and the performances were thoroughly exhilarating!
One of the highlights of the week was a very special matinee performance: we hosted students and staff from a school that caters to young people with a range of special needs and medical issues. Grade 8 students assisted in producing a ‘Visual Story’ to give our guests easier access to our show and the theatrical experience.
Southbank’s International Baccalaureate ethos means we take our service responsibilities very seriously. The cast and production team of Grease are proud that our show has been an opportunity to reach out to our local community. Many of our cast nominated this as their favourite performance.
