For the second year running, four students from Southbank Westminster came 1st place, this time out of 39 schools and colleges, at an East London heat of a UK wide mathematics competition. Aptly hosted at the beautiful Octagon hall at Queen Mary UCL our team won with score of 171/177. They progress to the national final in 2017 where they will face, and aim to outperform, many of the most academically successful schools in the country. This repeats our school’s success at our heat last year at King’s College UCL. The competition consisted of a group round, cross number and shuttle. Only one question, too devilish to even contemplate writing about, prevented the team from attaining a perfect score!
