The structure of the school day accommodates:

  • 30 periods for MYP
  • 34 periods for DP
  • a common lunch hour to facilitate meetings for staff, meetings of clubs, and also afford everyone an hour free from lessons to take lunch.
  • time for an assembly in the morning so that whole grades can meet at least once a week both to convey important information but also to celebrate and showcase student achievement
  • formal opportunities for extracurricular activities
  • a slot for PSHE, university talks and more general talks

A typical day looks like this:

  • 08.40 – 09.00 Assembly or advisory
  • 09.00 – 09.50 Period 1
  • 09.50 – 10.40 Period 2
  • 10.40 – 11.00 Break
  • 11.00 – 11.50 Period 3
  • 11.50 – 12.40 Period 4
  • 12.40 – 13.40 Lunch (G6-7 released at 12.30; G8 12.35; all others at 12.40)
  • 13.40 – 14.30 Period 5
  • 14.30 – 15.20 Period 6
  • 16.10 – Period 7 DP lesson; extracurricular activities MYP

NB

  • All periods are 50 minutes long
  • Period 7 is a normal lesson time for Diploma students and an extracurricular slot for MYP students.
