PYP trip to a local retirement home
A group of students from Southbank Kensington went to visit a local retirement home to spend a few hours with the residents last week. The group was comprised of students from two after school clubs – Volunteering Club (Grades 1-4) and We Act (Grade 5), both of which are our extracurricular clubs which facilitate students to take action both locally and globally. Southbank’s extracurricular programme is one of the most diverse in London, and free-of-charge.
In total there were 20 students who had great fun playing violin and cello, singing Danny Boy together with the residents, and performing some songs from a recent production of ‘The Jungle Book’. They also gave cards and home baked muffins to the residents and had some time to chat afterwards. It is always such a special time for all involved, and we will definitely be returning next term. It was a memorable day for both students and residents, with one of the residents saying “It made my day – when are you coming back again?”
