Spanish Day at Southbank
The school recently put together an extremely impressive roster of events to celebrate all things Spanish at the Kensington Campus.
The doors of every classroom were decorated with photographs, maps and adornments related to a Spanish-speaking country. Students were also encouraged to come to school dressed with the colours of the flag of their assigned country, which resulted in great fun playing dress up! Countries represented included Spain, Chile, Argentina, Columbia, Venezuela, Panama, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mayan Countries (Guatemala, Honduras, Salvador), Bolivia, Puerto Rico and Peru!
During Art class students explored Barcelona and Gaudí, and activities enabled the children relate to the works of Gaudi. There was also Maracas making and, of course, Spanish Lessons!
At lunch time, two giant pans of Paella were served – one vegetarian and one with chicken and vegetables.
After the food was enjoyed, the children burned off all of their energy during PE lessons, where they learnt hip-hop, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo and Sevillanas dance.
