The refit of our new Cleveland Street building has commenced with the site due to open in September 2018.The development will have 5 floors of classrooms, common space, and study and learning pods designed to the highest specifications. Consultation about the design with both staff and students highlighted that they wanted flexibility, a sense of calm and the chance to bring nature inside. As a result, expect to find an immense range of products and fittings, from clocks, to living moss walls, art, flooring, paint and wallpaper inside this exciting new space.
The building will host a brand new art room, a large common room on the top floor and a design technology lab in the basement. We are also carrying out works at both our Portland Place and Conway Street sites. These will be tidied up and developed, with extra science labs being built in the space that has been freed up due to the expansion on Cleveland Street. We are also converting the bottom floor of Conway Street into a bespoke classroom and gym, with students and staff able to use the gym equipment.
With the expansion of our Westminster campus we also have the wonderful opportunity of being able to offer more Diploma Programme course options for Southbank students. With the addition of our new and very exciting courses in Global Politics, Sports Exercise and Health Science and Design Technology, we’re really looking forward to being able to broaden the horizons of our students even further.
This development represents a significant investment by Cognita to take Southbank forward and our school leadership is tremendously excited by the opportunities it will provide for our students.
