The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is enjoyed by both international learners and those who have not previously studied the IB, including children moving over from private primary or secondary schools. The IB aims to do more than other curricula. It builds students critical thinking skills, nurtures their curiosity and their ability to solve complex problems.
Through a commitment to academic excellence and a uniquely liberal ethos, the IB also develops students with an inner belief in themselves. Southbank students have an openness to the outside world and a desire to give back to communities on a local, national and global level.

We are delighted to share the outstanding achievements of our students in the IBDP results.
Out of the 86 diploma students who participated, one of our biggest cohorts to date, 100% successfully passed and 86% scored higher than the world average (30.32), our Southbank average is 36. This is a remarkable feat and something we are extremely proud of.
*A score of 34-37 in the IB is roughly equivalent to AAA at A-Level. These comparisons are approximations and can vary by subject and university.

🥉 Overall: Southbank placed 3rd—an amazing achievement for a school without a swimming club!

As part of their study of Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, students explored the novel’s rich culinary themes through a tasting menu inspired by traditional dishes featured in the book. Restaurant owner Marisol Alvarado shared insights into the ingredients and cultural significance of each dish, bringing the story to life through food.

In maths, our #Hampstead Kindergarten students have been diving into measurement as part of their Unit of Inquiry under the theme ‘Where We Are in Place and Time’.
As they explored their personal histories, they created timelines starting from the day they were born! Students shared their Memory Boxes filled with special objects, toys, and photographs—carefully ordering them in a logical sequence of time.
Using non-standard units of measure, they measured objects in the classroom (including their Memory Boxes!), developing counting skills and precision. Using the language of measurement was reinforced as they ordered objects by length and compared heights as they measured themselves and other objects.

In the final year of the Middle Years Programme (MYP), all MYP students at our #Westminter campus undertake personal projects to explore, in depth, a topic of interest. They establish their learning goals, devise ways in which they will pursue them and they determine how to demonstrate what they`ve learned through a significant piece of independent work.
On Wednesday, MYP students presented their awe-inspiring personal projects in exhibition form to the Southbank community. Fellow students, teachers and parents were impressed and proud of the work, passion and dedication demonstrated by MYP students when sharing their personal projects.
Lots of varied and interesting themes were explored by MYP students this year, such as the very topical expansion of London Heathrow Airport; an interesting study into the effects of art therapy on teenagers and children and how they can use it to deal with fears and traumas; making a beautiful and extremely detailed miniature version of a room they`d like to live in; and building a very impressive solar powered pond filtration system!
Congratulations to all of our MYP students for making it to this stage of the MYP. Your hard work and commitment has certainly paid off!
