The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is enjoyed by both international learners and those who have not previously studied the IB, including children moving over from private primary or secondary schools. The IB aims to do more than other curricula. It builds students critical thinking skills, nurtures their curiosity and their ability to solve complex problems.
Through a commitment to academic excellence and a uniquely liberal ethos, the IB also develops students with an inner belief in themselves. Southbank students have an openness to the outside world and a desire to give back to communities on a local, national and global level.

100% Pass Rate For The IB Diploma
We are delighted to share the outstanding achievements of our students in the IBDP results.
Out of the 86 diploma students who participated, one of our biggest cohorts to date, 100% successfully passed and 86% scored higher than the world average (30.32), our Southbank average is 36. This is a remarkable feat and something we are extremely proud of.
*A score of 34-37 in the IB is roughly equivalent to AAA at A-Level. These comparisons are approximations and can vary by subject and university.

Our #Westminster Grade 7 students recently took on a bold interdisciplinary challenge through the IB MYP, combining Individuals & Societies with Design to reimagine Minecraft models as sustainable, real-world structures.
Inspired by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, they explored social, environmental, and economic impact—all while collaborating across disciplines. This hands-on experience is a powerful example of how interdisciplinary learning equips students to tackle real-world challenges beyond classroom walls.

Our #Kensington Grade 4 are two weeks into their ‘Sharing the Planet’ Unit of Inquiry, with the central idea: "The carbon cycle and human activity are interconnected."
Last week, they visited the Wetlands Centre in Barnes, where they:
🧪 Collected and identified pond life
📊 Graphed predicted impacts of climate change on pond populations
🌾 Learned how wetlands store carbon and support biodiversity
Back in class, students have:
🔁 Created their own carbon cycle diagrams
🧠 Used the “See, Think, Me, We” routine to explore global pollution images
📚 Investigated words like “biodiversity” and “photosynthesis” to uncover their deeper meanings through word inquiry
This has been such an exciting, eye-opening start to a powerful unit!

Our #Westminster Grade 7 recently took learning to new heights with a fun-filled day at LEGOLAND Windsor!
As part of their Maths and Interdisciplinary Unit (IDU) studies, students explored intricate LEGO sculptures of famous buildings—analysing scale, ratios, and geometry in action. They then participated in an Eco-Living workshop, designing model houses powered by wind and solar energy —some even programmed turbines and lights using an app!
This hands-on experience set the stage perfectly for their Sustainable Living IDU. After lunch, students enjoyed the park’s rides and games (one lucky student even won a Minecraft llama!).
Huge thanks to the amazing staff who made the day possible. 💙

Our South Bank Sharkettes are your new U14 Girls Westminster Schools Champions – and they did it in dramatic fashion! 🏆🔥
Facing the same Westminster Academy team that beat us in last year’s final (with two national team players!), the girls came out with fire, energy, and total team spirit. With standout plays from Georgia and Laura, strong rotations by Coach Clark, and amazing crowd support, we stormed to a solid lead.
But Westminster came back strong in the second half, pushing us to the limit. The final minute? Pure chaos. Screams. Steals. 3-pointers. Drama. And in the end... we held on to win by ONE point! 😱🙌
