Geographical explorations in Morocco

This year Southbank Geographers undertook their first expedition to Morocco. Their primary task was to investigate the downstream changes exhibited by the River Rehraya as it flows from the flanks of Mount Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa. Armed with ranging poles, clinometers and other measuring devices students braved the icy melt water for two days to gather essential data for their Diploma fieldwork report. Then it was off to Marrakesh to study tourism and development issues firsthand. Needless to say this involved visiting Jemaa el Fna after sunset to take in the sights and sounds of the snake charmers, musicians and street food sellers. A truly amazing experience and a wonderful learning opportunity!
