Southbank Students earn tickets to We Day in Wembley Arena

On Thursday, March 5th, nine Grade 5 students will be attending We Day at Wembley Arena.

The We Day movement was born from the belief that young people can create change. We Day empowers a generation of young global citizens through an inspirational event and a year-long educational initiative called We Act. Through the initiative, students take local and global action, committing their time to an ECA, ‘We Act’ club where they volunteer their time and engage in active citizenship.

Southbank students chose our school’s charity Tree of Hope after researching six different charities. They then presented the selection process and their chosen charity to the school during Town Meeting. Alongside that, the students created a ‘Healthier Treats’ recipe leaflet for £1 and sold samples, raising £157 for Tree of Hope. They also organised the We Scare Hunger campaign and raised over 80kg of food donations for Kensington and Chelsea food bank.

As part of our effort to foster global citizenship and service learning with our students, this is the second year that Southbank has participated in the We Day , it has been described “an amazing experience and is truly inspiring.” As a result of their hard work and dedication, these nine Southbank International students have earned a ticket to We Day. Featuring renowned cultural icons and musicians, previous performers and speakers have included Prince Harry, Al Gore, Sir Richard Branson, Malala Yousafzai, Ellie Goulding and Jennifer Hudson, to name but a few.

As our students excitedly await the event, watch this space for an update on how the event went!
